Mission Forward was founded in 2022 by Jeff Burkhart to help nonprofits strengthen their impact. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in organizational development, Jeff partners with organizations that lead with courage, heart, and passion. His work provides practical tools to strengthen strategy, fundraising, and leadership so missions can move forward with confidence and joy.

About Jeff Burkhart, CFRE, MS
Jeff has more than 20 years of leadership experience in government and nonprofit sectors. For 14 years, he guided Literacy Network in Madison, Wisconsin, through growth, change, and recognition as a trusted, award-winning organization.
Highlights from Jeff’s work:
- Supported learners during COVID-19 by leading a highly collaborative team that created new ways to connect and learn
- Led a capital campaign for a new learning center and endowment for operating expenses while expanding programs and increasing sustainability
- Developed strong partnerships with schools, colleges, libraries, health systems, and community organizations
- Built a positive and engaged workplace culture, which was recognized as one of Madison Magazine’s Best Places to Work in multiple years
- Earned recognition for high-quality programs and processes
